What a fun day I had. This whole weekend is full of fun things. I love the fall!!! Today my friend, Alicia, and I took a road trip to Madison, Wisconsin to the farmers market. It's about a 2 hr drive but well worth it. It is so much fun, and the weather was just perfect. It's the best farmers market around here. The best I've ever been to is Pike's Place in Seattle. But since I can't afford to fly half way around the country, this is the next best thing.

I also gave up on the mittens. The next one look a lot different then the first. Go figure, same pattern. And I'm on a deadline to get some socks finished for a gift. My daughter is getting married on the 19th of October and one of my sons friends will be there and I want to give him a pair of homemade socks.

Well, I finished at least one of my mittens. I had the flu Fri night and laid around and knit all day Saturday. I also had to take it apart after my last post. It was too tight. So I used bigger needles and finished it. I really like knitting with two hands. After you get used to it, it goes really fast.

It has been so hot here, it's awful. We had a little taste of Autumn and poof it was gone. I hope that doesn't mean we'll go right into winter. I hate that! I haven't made much progress on my mittens. They seem too tight. I usually knit very loose, but I'm getting used to the two handed knitting, so I might be knitting tighter because of that. If it's too tight I'll have to take it out and start again. BUMMER.

I have had the last 2 days off of work and haven't done a lick of knitting. I got a new book and I have been devouring it. It's the new Pattie Boyd autobiography and I've always had a little bit of groupie in me. So it's my kind of book. Also, it's my youngest childs 21st birthday. He can't drink because he gave part of his liver to his sister not even 1 month ago. Poor thing. So what does he do with his birthday balloons?

I can hardly believe it's Sept and it's going into fall! And I love it!! I hate the summer (too hot to knit anything but socks). And fall is my favorite season. I've had a rough year so far. My daughter had a stillborn baby in April, my father died in July, and my son gave my daughter part of his liver in Aug. But now things are looking up and we are starting a fresh new season. I went in Aug to Stitches and took a Fair Isle knitting class (given by Candice Eisner-Strick). So in order to not forget what I have learned I am starting my mittens. They are taking a long time because I have to keep ripping out. I'll be posting my progress.

This is my son who is recouping from surgery on my couch! He says his bed is too uncomfortable. By the way you might have seen him on Fox News. They did a story on my son and daughter because he's in the Marines and came home to save his sister! What a hero!!

This is a baby blanket I've been working on for a shower I'm going to on Sunday. I don't know how to crochet so I just knitted an edge which I'm not too happy with but it will do.
